crate training

Crate training provides your puppy with a safe and comfortable space and helps with house training.

  • Choose the Right Crate:
    • Size: The crate should be large       enough for your puppy to stand, turn around, and lie down comfortably,       but not so large that they can use one corner as a bathroom.
    • Types: There are various types       of crates, including wire crates, plastic crates, and soft-sided crates.       Choose one that suits your puppy’s needs and your lifestyle.
  • Make it Comfortable:
    • Bedding: Add a soft blanket or       crate pad for comfort. Ensure the bedding is easily washable in case of       accidents.
    • Toys: Place a few safe toys       inside to make the crate inviting. Chew toys can also help keep your       puppy occupied.
  • Introduce Gradually:
    • Initial Exploration: Start by leaving the       crate door open and allowing your puppy to explore it at their own pace.       Use treats and praise to encourage them to enter the crate.
    • Feeding in the Crate: Feed your puppy their       meals inside the crate to create a positive association. Gradually       increase the time they spend in the crate with the door closed.
  • Use for House Training:
    • Short Periods: Use the crate for short       periods initially, gradually increasing the duration as your puppy       becomes more comfortable.
    • Potty Breaks: Always take your puppy       outside to eliminate immediately after letting them out of the crate.
